My name is Raleigh Adams, and my favorite place to be is outside.

I call myself an Exterior Designer because I believe outdoor living spaces should be designed and enjoyed just as much as the rooms inside. Much like an interior designer, I am hired to enhance livable outdoor square footage—from sourcing plant material, lighting, and furniture to building site-specific installations like fences, arbors, and custom mirrors & planter boxes.

In my experience, areas like a front porch, terrace, or patio extend the architectural lines of a home, enhancing daily enjoyment, year-round curb appeal, and value. Despite this, these spaces are frequently overlooked. When they are intentionally designed, clients often tell me their outdoor area has become their favorite “room” at home.

I describe my style as aspirational like the Classical world, yet as low-key as the Appalachian Mountains. I was born and raised in Boone, North Carolina, where I still live and work today. I consider my work a form of artistic expression, shaped by my unique perspective and a lifelong connection to nature.

Many of the natural materials I use—such as rhododendron, locust, moss, and mushrooms—are gathered from the forests near my childhood home. Other found objects are curated to evoke a strong sense of place and aesthetic heritage.

When I’m not in the woods or sourcing materials, you’ll find me golfing, road biking, or dining al fresco with friends and family.

Welcome to my Exterior Design Studio,

where I’m always finding new ways to

THINK OUTSIDE.
